THANK YOU FOR DOWNLOADING THE CYBERCASH CLIENT APPLICATION!
===========================================================
This application is part of the CyberCash Secure Internet
Payment Service and is one of the most secure networked
financial systems available today.
Version 0.8.2 of our Client Application enables you to
securely conduct credit card purchases over the Internet.
In later releases, we will be introducing the ability to
make Money Payments in addition to credit.
The CyberCash Client Application User's Guide is accessible
from http://www.cybercash.com.
We hope you will have a pleasant experience using our
software. We are aware that early releases of a system may be
confusing or may not operate as expected. If you have any
problems or comments, we would like to hear from you.
Please send us your problems, comments or suggestions through
our customer comments form:
http://www.cybercash.com/comments/comments.html.
LATER RELEASES:
===============
CyberCash will be periodically upgrading this software. Every
time you conduct a transaction, we will check the version of
software you are using. If your software has expired, you
will be informed that you need to download a new version.
VERSION 0.7 ALPHA TEST USERS ONLY:
==================================
Version 0.7 has expired. If you established a CyberCash
Persona using Version 0.7 of the CyberCash Client Application,
you will need to establish your Persona again and link your
credit cards again using Version 0.8.2. You may use the same
CyberCash ID.
VERSION 0.7.1 AND 0.7.2 ALPHA TEST USERS ONLY:
==============================================
Versions 0.7.1 and 0.7.2 have also expired. However, your
CyberCash Personas and credit cards linked to your Persona are
still valid for Version 0.8.2. When you log into your Persona
for the first time using Version 0.8.2, the application will
advise you that a data conversion is required to continue.
You must allow the application to convert your data files in
order to use already established Personas. The time required
to convert your data is very short.
VERSION 0.8.0 AND 0.8.1 BETA TEST USERS ONLY:
=============================================
Your CyberCash Personas are still valid for Version 0.8.2.
When you log into your Persona for the first time using Version
0.8.2, the application will advise you that a data conversion is
required to continue. You must allow the application to convert
your data files in order to use already established Personas.
The time required to convert your data is very short.
TCP/IP STACKS:
==============
For the CyberCash Client Application to work properly, a
system-wide, third party TCP/IP communications stack that
is WINSOCK 1.1 compliant must be installed on your system.
The following TCP/IP stacks have been tested and validated
for Version 0.8.2 of the CyberCash Client Application:
Microsoft Version 3.11
Internet In A Box - Chameleon
Chameleon
NetManage - Chameleon
Wallongong Version 2.0
Trumpet Version 2.0b

Super TCP Version 4.0
SUPPORTED WEB BROWSERS:

Client Application and are supported in Version 0.8.2:

During the setup process, if any of the above browsers are
found on your system, the .INI file will be updated to use the
CyberCash Client Application as the viewer/helper application for
"Pay With CyberCash" requests. Before any .INI file is updated,
the original .INI file will be backed up to a .CYB file. For
example, emosaic.ini will be copied to emosaic.cyb before it is
modified.
You may also use "Setup Web Browers" from within the Client
Application to setup any of the supported browsers after the
Client Application is installed.
CyberCash is actively pursuing support for additional browsers in
future versions.
USING UNSUPPORTED WEB BROWSERS:
===============================
If you would like to try an unsupported browser, you may setup
the CyberCash Client Application as a viewer/helper application
yourself. Each browser has a different user interface to do this,
but the following information is essential:
File Type: application
Mime Type: x-cybercash
Suffix: .cym
Application: cyber.exe (This file is in the directory
specified during the setup process.)
Unsupported browsers may or may not work with the CyberCash Client
Application.
NOTE: The CyberCash Client Application will not work with Web
Browsers that contain their own TCP/IP stack. CyberCash is pursuing
options to support products like these for future releases.
ABOUT THE SOFTWARE:
===================
In order to take advantage of the CyberCash service, users must
install the free CyberCash software and establish a CyberCash
Persona. By installing the software, you agree to the terms of the
software license and user agreement displayed at the time of password
selection and activation. Establishing a CyberCash Persona will allow
you to use your credit cards with all Internet merchants who offer
the CyberCash service.
WHAT IT COSTS:
==============
There is no cost to you for the CyberCash software, and CyberCash
does not impose any additional fees on credit card users for taking
advantage of the CyberCash service. Fees for the CyberCash credit card
service are paid by merchants as part of their standard credit card
transaction costs.
PRIVACY AND CONFIDENTIALITY:
============================
CyberCash believes strongly in protecting the privacy of your financial
information. This software will encrypt the data regarding your credit
card so that it can be safely transmitted over the Internet and to your
financial institution. CyberCash will also not voluntarily reveal any
information about you or your transactions to anyone other than the
merchant and financial institution(s) involved in processing the
transaction. But the CyberCash service covers only the financial aspect
of your transaction (credit card number, name, expiration and amount of
transaction); other information you may send over the Internet, even to
the merchant with whom you are dealing, is not part of the CyberCash
service, and will not be encrypted, received or stored by CyberCash.
