-
- A rather eventful day!
-
- I spent some time casually sharpening the chain saw, and went down to the
- reserve, to plant some small trees, but found the chain down, and to my
- surprise, found Vic Moss and the Wildfowlers there, and they had cleared
- back much of the fallen sallow on the edge of the pond.
-
- They left a few suitable bits for moorhens to nest, and dragged the willow,
- generally on to the banks.
-
- The chain, had been removed however by Jonathan Rabey, who was with two
- lads, with terriers, a sack, and spades. I talked to them, and they said
- they were doing something with foxes, in a pipe on their land. I took their
- number, and went around looking at some sets, and across the field, with Ian
- Bruce.
-
- In the afternoon, I cut the larger trees near the meadow end coppice,
- including starting a new pollard oak under the electricity wires. Peter
- Crawford, Karen and David, the ex probationer turned up. We planted two
- hazels in the front clearing, and some more trees, in the TWIG field. I also
- planted a wayfaring tree in the green lane.
