The limited edition artist's book, entitled "Love and earth, 100 drawings by Frank Zeidler," Vancouver: Free Art Publications, 1996, is inscribed 13/25.

The artist supplied the following note on the drawings: "Included in this collection of drawings is a rather fanciful portrait of the poet William Carlos Williams. I have included this portrait as an example of a heroic individual, someone who was able to combine his obligations to society with his artistic compulsions. William Carlos Williams is an American poet of renown whose primary occupation was as a pediatrician serving the needs of mother and child in the poorer regions of New Jersey. His ability to create a poetry of first class artistry within the confines and demands of day to day life as a doctor is extraordinary and serves me as an example and ideal. All of these drawings have been created over the last six years and represent a stylistic consolidation. The drawings are deliberately simple and free of embellishment. This is primarily to emphasize the content. The frequent combination of disparate and unrelated elements in the drawing give rise to metaphor, this gives the work its impact of poetic feeling. The personal interpretation of the metaphor forms the basis of meaning of the drawing. It is this aspect of the image as a poem that defines to a large degree my artistic direction. Achieving truth and meaning in art, be it poetry or drawing, does not always require great sacrifices of life or time, it does require insight, vision, honesty, and dedication. The drawings in this collection show how a lot can be attained through relatively modest means. That the drawings have meaning, and that one may glimpse at the truth through these drawings is for me of upmost importance. The creation of images and signs since prehistoric times has been as much a spiritual exercise as decorative. It is the spiritual side that guides me in my image making. These drawings are pointers to the truth and records the growth of a soul. As other works at art have illuminated the way through life for me, I hope that this collection of drawings might do the same for others."
