Barry Goodman is an artist whose practice encompasses weaving and installation work, born in 1965 in Montreal, Quebec. He studied at Concordia University, Montreal, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, as well as a Diploma in Textiles from Capilano College, Vancouver, and a Diploma in Art History from the University of British Columbia.
Scope and content
The work consists of one single strand of magnetic computer reel tape together with a leather bound Hebrew Bible, 12.5 x 21 cm, with '1909, 10 Pounds,' inscribed in pencil on the inside front cover, 1997.
Note
The artist stated: "I work fibres because they allow a multitude of readings. The structure and surface created by the interweaving of fibres for me directly relates to the contemporary situation vis a vis cultural discourse."
