  19. When you attempt to print from a Windows for Workgroups 3.1 to a
  20. Windows NT 3.1 or Windows NT  Advanced Server 3.1 computer that is
  21. sharing a printer on the network, the first print job works, but after
  22. that, the printer reports !ERROR in Print Manager (on the Windows for
  23. Workgroups computer) and no more jobs work correctly. Quitting and
  24. restarting Windows for Workgroups 3.1 allows the computer to print
  25. again, but the error appears again after the first print job.

  27. CAUSE

  30. This problem may be due to the Windows for Workgroup's computer
  31. running Banyan VINES software in addition to Windows for Workgroups.
  32.  
  33. Banyan VINES adds the following lines to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file of the
  34. Windows for Workgroups computer:
  35.  
  36.    ban /nc
  37.    redirall
  38.    arswait
  39.    Z:login
  40.    Z:setmsgs off
  41.  
  42. In addition, Banyan VINES adds the following lines to the Windows for
  43. Workgroups computer's SYSTEM.INI:

  45.    [Boot]
  46.    secondnet=vines.drv
  47.  
  48.    [386 enh]
  49.    secondnet=vvinesd.386
  50.  
  51.    [network]
  52.    multinet=vines500

  57. Removing the Banyan VINES software from the Windows for Workgroups 3.1
  58. computer by using the Network application in Control Panel removes
  59. these entries and corrects the problem.
