- [PRODUCT ENTRY]
-
- The product entry portion of the display in the lower
- left corner is activated by selecting the proper task
- for PRODUCT under the EDIT menu at the top of your
- screen, using the buttons across the bottom of the
- screen, or using the [F4]/[F5] keys.
-
- [NEW]
- The displays will be cleared and become active
- when NEW is selected. If you are using the
- CATEGORIES method of grouping, select your
- predefined category from the drop-list and enter
- the appropriate information in the other fields. In
- the event that CATEGORIES will not be used, at
- least 1 category should be created under which
- all products will be entered. i.e. PRODUCTS
-
- The PRODUCT NAME field should give a good
- description of the product and will appear on the
- invoice as well as other lists. It is important to use
- a unique product name for each product entered.
- If a product name is duplicated, the program will
- always use the first listed instance of the pro-
- duct regardless of the category.
-
- Entering information in the BARCODE field is done
- by left-clicking once in the field. When the barcode
- entry panel opens, either type or scan the product's
- barcode into the BARCODE field, hit the tab key to
- move to the VERIFY field, and type or scan the pro-
- duct's barcode. When the two entries match, the
- panel will close and the barcode will appear in the
- product panel.
-
- The QUANTITY field will automatically be decreased
- with each sale. When new stock is received, the
- product should be edited and the new quantity up-
- dated.
-
- When the QUANTITY field decreases to the level
- set in the MIN. field, an alert is generated on the sale
- screen and the item name is added to the ORDER
- LIST.
-
- The COST and PRICE fields reflect the price paid
- for the item and the price the item is sold for.
- When this information is entered properly, the
- GROSS field will display the profit on the sale.
-
- The VENDER field holds the name of the company
- where the item was purchased.
-
- The SALES TAX checkbox is an important feature
- allowing the user to selectively charge sales tax
- on products. If the box is checked, sales tax will
- be applied to the product on the sale, if it is un-
- checked, only the actual price of the item will be
- added to the total sale.
-
- The BARCODE SEARCH button is used to search
- for products to edit based on a barcode that is as-
- signed to the product.
