  4.    The CASH CUSTOMERS checkbox eliminates
  5.    the need to enter customer information for
  6.    stores that will not be keeping a customer
  7.    database. Placing a check in the box will 
  8.    place the phrase CASH CUSTOMER in the
  9.    customer name field and allow the sale to
  10.    begin immediately following  the prior sale.    
  11.    
  12.     It is possible to search your product database
  13.    either by the category or the  product  name.
  14.    Select  your preferred  search method using
  15.    the radio buttons  located in  the  SEARCH
  16.    OPTIONS section.  When a search panel opens,
  17.    simply begin  typing the first few letters and the
  18.    display will  jump to the desired item. Extended
  19.    search options can be used to locate customers
  20.    using  the  CUSTOMER  EXTENDED checkbox
  21.    located in the SEARCH OPTIONS section. A
  22.    small panel will open with the customer list to
  23.    allow the user to search by name, address,
  24.    phone number...

  26.    The SALES TAX field must  have an entry and
  27.    will accept 'real' type numbers such as 1.33,
  28.    7.5, 0... If no tax is needed, place a zero in this
  29.    field or errors will be reported.

  31.    Printing invoices is optional and can be enabled
  32.    by placing a check in the PRINT INVOICES field.
  33.    The user can also elect to view the invoice be-
  34.    fore printing by placing a check in the PREVIEW
  35.    INVOICES field.   Swift POS supports printing
  36.    register style receipts using most standard  3"
  37.    or wider receipt printers. To use this feature,
  38.    place a check in the  RECEIPT PRINTER  box.
  39.    Register receipts can not be previewed. Lists
  40.    and reports are formatted to print  ONLY  to 
  41.    8.5"x11" page printers.

  43.    Swift POS  will  interface  with an inexpensive
  44.    cash register drawer. We recommend the Logic
  45.    Controls CR3002 self powered drawer. It attaches
  46.    to your computer on the serial  port with a cable
  47.    that  is provided. Logic Controls also sells powered
  48.    cash drawers. They perform better but cost more. 
  49.    We purchased  our  drawer from  POSmicro.com
  50.    for $145.

  52.    Place a check in the PRESENT box if you have a
  53.    drawer. Select the appropriate serial port using
  54.    the drop list. Most computers have at least a COM1
  55.    and usually have a COM2 as well.  This can  be
  56.    tested by pressing the OPEN button.

  58.    The program now supports a pole display for the
  59.    customer to see items added to the sale as well
  60.    as the price, subtotal, tax, and totals. Swift POS
  61.    supports the Logic Controls PD3000 exclusively.
  62.    No other display pole can be used. The models
  63.    supported may be connected to the computer via
  64.    a serial COM port or a USB port. For more infor-

  69.    The PD3000 will require some setup to operate
  70.    correctly. Placing a check in the PRESENT box
  71.    will activate the device. With either the serial
  72.    or USB model, it will be necessary to find out
  73.    the correct  COM  port number and BAUD rate
  74.    for the PD3000.  Windows  usually  assigns a
  75.    baud rate of 9600 to ports. This will also be true 
  76.    for the VIRTUAL serial port installed by the USB
  77.    driver. The port information can be located by:

  79.       a. Open the Windows CONTROL PANEL
  80.       b. Double Left-Click the SYSTEM icon
  81.       c. For Windows 2000 & XP select the 
  82.           HARDWARE index tab and press the
  83.           DEVICE MANAGER button       
  84.       d. For Windows 9x & ME select the
  85.           DEVICE MANAGER index tab
  86.       e. Locate PORTS in the list and view the
  87.           properties for the appropriate  COM
  88.           port.
