- The CASH CUSTOMERS checkbox eliminates
- the need to enter customer information for
- stores that will not be keeping a customer
- database. Placing a check in the box will
- place the phrase CASH CUSTOMER in the
- customer name field and allow the sale to
- begin immediately following the prior sale.
-
- It is possible to search your product database
- either by the category or the product name.
- Select your preferred search method using
- the radio buttons located in the SEARCH
- OPTIONS section. When a search panel opens,
- simply begin typing the first few letters and the
- display will jump to the desired item. Extended
- search options can be used to locate customers
- using the CUSTOMER EXTENDED checkbox
- located in the SEARCH OPTIONS section. A
- small panel will open with the customer list to
- allow the user to search by name, address,
- phone number...
-
- The SALES TAX field must have an entry and
- will accept 'real' type numbers such as 1.33,
- 7.5, 0... If no tax is needed, place a zero in this
- field or errors will be reported.
-
- Printing invoices is optional and can be enabled
- by placing a check in the PRINT INVOICES field.
- The user can also elect to view the invoice be-
- fore printing by placing a check in the PREVIEW
- INVOICES field. Swift POS supports printing
- register style receipts using most standard 3"
- or wider receipt printers. To use this feature,
- place a check in the RECEIPT PRINTER box.
- Register receipts can not be previewed. Lists
- and reports are formatted to print ONLY to
- 8.5"x11" page printers.
-
- Swift POS will interface with an inexpensive
- cash register drawer. We recommend the Logic
- Controls CR3002 self powered drawer. It attaches
- to your computer on the serial port with a cable
- that is provided. Logic Controls also sells powered
- cash drawers. They perform better but cost more.
- We purchased our drawer from POSmicro.com
- for $145.
-
- Place a check in the PRESENT box if you have a
- drawer. Select the appropriate serial port using
- the drop list. Most computers have at least a COM1
- and usually have a COM2 as well. This can be
- tested by pressing the OPEN button.
-
- The program now supports a pole display for the
- customer to see items added to the sale as well
- as the price, subtotal, tax, and totals. Swift POS
- supports the Logic Controls PD3000 exclusively.
- No other display pole can be used. The models
- supported may be connected to the computer via
- a serial COM port or a USB port. For more infor-
- mation, visit the Logic Controls website at:
-
- www.logiccontrols.com
-
- The PD3000 will require some setup to operate
- correctly. Placing a check in the PRESENT box
- will activate the device. With either the serial
- or USB model, it will be necessary to find out
- the correct COM port number and BAUD rate
- for the PD3000. Windows usually assigns a
- baud rate of 9600 to ports. This will also be true
- for the VIRTUAL serial port installed by the USB
- driver. The port information can be located by:
-
- a. Open the Windows CONTROL PANEL
- b. Double Left-Click the SYSTEM icon
- c. For Windows 2000 & XP select the
- HARDWARE index tab and press the
- DEVICE MANAGER button
- d. For Windows 9x & ME select the
- DEVICE MANAGER index tab
- e. Locate PORTS in the list and view the
- properties for the appropriate COM
- port.
