  35. =====
  36. The Executive News Service Template lets you sift through news stories you download from 
  37. CompuServe's Executive News Service (ENS). The reports included with this template are 
  38. designed to give you an overview of your stories.
  39. You can use this Template as it is, or you can change it to better suit your needs. There is a lot 
  40. of valuable information on CompuServe's ENS. At times, however, the flood of information can 
  41. be overwhelming. With askSam, you can turn this information into your personal database.
  42. Note 1: This Template is designed to help you organize information which is downloaded from 
  43. CompuServe's ENS using the CompuServe Information Manager (or CompuServe Navigator). 
  44. Our CompuServe Filter imports the following file types: *.ART, *.MSG, *.NWS, *.PLX, *.THD. 
  45. This template is for organizing *.NWS files.

  53. ===== INSTRUCTIONS =====
  54. To Import CompuServe Executive News Service Files (*.ENS)
  55. In order to archive ENS files, you will have to import the information into askSam:
  56. 1. Choose FILE -> IMPORT (or double click on the "Import Messages" Hypertext Link.)
  57. The Import Dialog will appear.
  58. 2. Set the File Type is set to "CompuServe Information Manager".
  59. 3. Change to the directory where your ENS files are located. Select the file or files you wish to 
  60. import. You can chose the "Select All" option if you wish to import the entire contents of a 
  61. directory.
  62. 4. Choose the OK button.
  63. Your messages are imported. 
  64. Note - askSam automatically creates Wire Service and Subject fields with the information from 
  65. your messages.
  66. To Search for a News Story
  67. Once your files are imported, you can use askSam's search features to locate specific news 
  68. story. 
  69. Double Click on the "Search" Hypertext Link to search for a word or phrase. A dialog box will 
  70. appear. Enter the word or phrase you wish to locate and choose OK. 
  71. You can search from the Command Line. Press the ESC Key to access the Command 
  72. Line.Type the word or words you want to locate and press ENTER.
  73. Note - The ACTIONS menu contains a variety of search options that you can use to search 
  74. your Information.
  75. Reports in the ENS Template
  76. To make it easy for you to organize your news stories, we have included several reports in this 
  77. template. You can modify these reports or create new ones if you wish.
  78. The Search report lets you enter a word or phrase and retrieves the news stories containing 
  79. this word or phrase. You can run this report by double clicking the "Search" Hypertext Link.
  80. The Subject Overview displays an overview of wires service and subjects for each news story.
  81. You can also run these reports by choosing TOOLS -> RUN REPORT and selecting the report 
  82. you want to run.
  83. If a Report opens a second window, you can return to your original File by:
  84. - Double Clicking on any line in the Report (you return to the Document containing the 
  85. information you clicked on).
  86. - Closing the window containing the Report output. (Choose FILE
  87. -> CLOSE or press 
  88. CTRL+F4.)
  89. - Pressing CTRL+TAB to switch back to the previous window.
  90. To Delete this Document
  91. If you wish to delete this Document from your File (including the Hypertext Menu at the top of 
  92. the Document), choose DOCUMENT -> DELETE while this Document is displayed. After 
  93. deleting a Document you should PACK your file (choose FILE -> PACK).
