- Good lord old boy, the whole place is milling with top
- brass. Looks like something really hush-hush is going
- down. Anyway you’re wanted in the briefing room. Just be
- careful when you go outside, my orderly came back with
- arm ache from too much saluting.
-
- The Briefing Room....
- Our agents inform us that the enemy has succeeded in
- developing a new interceptor aircraft with a revolutionary
- form of propulsion system. It is rumoured that these “Jet”
- fighters are both faster and more manoeuvrable than
- anything previously encountered.
- There is a squadron of eight such fighters stored in three
- separate bomb proof bunkers. There’s a chance that a small
- fighter can fly through the hangar doors and destroy them.
- Our bombers will be mopping up after you so also take care
- of four Eindeckers for them. I needn’t tell you what could
- happen if these fighters are allowed to become airworthy.

- Another wave of Gotha Bombers has been spotted. Five
- of them in the standard V Pattern. Also a major arms
- shipment is heading north by rail. Eight Trains are
- involved and all are lightly armed.
-
- They are all moving at a steady pace so if you spend
- too much time landing and repairing they will be out
- of range and that will be it. On the other hand, if
- you continue with a lot of damage you may have to
- ditch the old crate and that too will be it.

- The deep red phone that sits on your CO’s desk has
- remained passive ever since you’ve known him. Today is
- the first time you’ve heard a squawk out of it.
-
- Your CO purposefully leans, picks it up and immediately
- stands to attention. You muse on the identity of the
- caller that could have this effect on your CO. You
- suddenly have an idea when your CO politely enquires as
- to the well being of the caller’s Corgis.
-
- You’re wanted over at the Palace old boy. You’re to
- receive the highest military award we can give you.
- The Victoria Cross ( V.C. ).
