- I assume you're referring to image intensifier tubes (aka microchannel
- plates or MCP's), since these are the only imaging tube in common use
- that preserves geometric information.

- New tubes run arount $1.5K plus, but you can pick up used ones for circa
- $800 from an outfit called MWK incorporated. These tubes have a built in
- power supply (give 'em 3 volts and you're in business), but they ARE used,
- and MCP's tend to have limited lifetimes (on the order of 500 to several
- thousand hours).
