- Response to Ralph Finch request for Radio selection.
-
- First off, If you have not contacted a local club or hobby shop
- do so. They can be the best source of information as to what is popular
- if any frequency is having problems from interference (might make ham
- frequency more attractive), what channels are heavily used, etc..
-
- Most advertised brands today are good, some are more price oriented than
- others. The most popular brands here in the Philadelphia area are Futaba
- and Airtronics. Few Ace, World Expert, Tower and Hobby Shack private Labels.
-
- When asked by new students in my club, I recommend 4 channel dual rate at a
- minimum, with trainer cord capabilities (another good reason to contact local
- club). If your interest is strong in returning to this great hobby, go for
- 6 channel, never know when you might need bells and whistles. Won't get into
- FM vs PCM depends on your $ investment.
-
- Lastly welcome back.
