- Our A/B'ing came probably a short while after yours. Sony had just
- introduced the noise-shaping with the 'equivalent of a 45 bit' signal
- (that's the way they touted it).
-
- But it was an extremely close race between them. At that time we felt
- the Sony had the edge - but it was very close. This was with 2 audio
- engineers (myself being one) and a friend of our who we consider to be
- "golden eared" - that is from our observations - hot his claim - he
- denies it.
-
- But then the 1540 came out, and we never did get to AB that one.
-
- Up until they came out with the 508/608/708 series - the Sony's did
- sound rough. But these were the first really musical ones from them
- IMO (and the O of many others :-) ).
-
- The nice thing about all this is that the machines get better each
- year.
-
- The bad thing is that we now have to buy another machine :-(
