  14. At the moment we seem to be talking about law enforcement, not
  15. censorship (that is, censorship based on personal opinion unsupported
  16. by any legislation).

  18. Whether you like a law or not you ARE liable for breaking it until
  19. it is changed.

  21. Personally I think that efforts to redirect the very real issue
  22. of what to do when illegal material (child pornography) has been
  23. posted to the standard interminable "censorship!" argument is
  24. reprehensible.

  26. We have an issue to deal with.  We should do so.

  28. note: this issue does NOT directly affect this site since we
  29. don't even get the full usenet heirarchy, much less the alt.* stuff,
  30. but copyrighted material can still turn up in, say, comp.lang.c, and
  31. THAT is the issue (no, not copyright OR pornography): what to do about
  32. material that violates your local laws, and what to do about it's posters
  33. if they also happen to fall under the same jurisdiction.
