- I have a CDC Wren VI disk drive attached to a Sparc 1 that just went
- belly-up in an interesting way: now, on reboot, instead of seeing
- sd2 at esp0 target 2 lun 0
- sd2: <CDC WREN VI SCSI cyl 1624 alt 2 hd 15 sec 53>
- as I used to, now I get:
- sd2 at esp 0 target 2 lun 0
- sd2: Vendor 'CDC', product '94141-', (unknown capacity)
-
- And, of course, I can't mount, fsck, or run format on this drive.
- I've dealt with defects and such problems on disks before, but no
- tools I have will read the disk at all in this state.
-
- Does anyone know what this error might be caused by? Furthermore,
- can anyone suggest any companies which diagnose/fix disk drives?
- The vendor from whom I bought this drive (in 1989) has since gone
- out of business.
-
- Please respond by email as I do not regularly read this group.
