- Hi All,
-
- I need to sort out backing up my unix box to a 5Gig tape drive. Now, the
- unix box only has a couple hundred Meg stored on it, so it should really be
- able to basically backup to one tape forever (obviously, I'll want to
- switch tapes every now and then to get a longer term backup). Probably all
- I need to do is get it to do a full backup every week (or two or four), and
- an incremental backup during the week. So what's a nice simple way of
- getting this set up.
-
- I'm also interested in any ideas on how to backup my macs on the network to
- the tape drive. I know about Macdump, which dumps the mac HDs to the Sun's
- HDs, and then they get backed up as per normal, but I'm wondering about a
- more direct to tape method. I can write any TCP code required on the Mac
- end, but I'm not too clued in on how to use the tape drive for this sort of
- thing on the Sun's end. If anyone has any ideas on this score I'd be
- interested to hear them.
-
- Thanks for any ideas,
- Peter.
