- I'm not sure I believe this. At the dealer I bought the 4000 from, I
- saw his 4000 using a 256 color background which looked to really be 256
- colors. Or if it wasn't, it was sure a *lot* more than 8, such as maybe
- 200 or so. (It was a raytraced image with smooth color gradients).

- I do believe that the workbench applications have only 8 pens. That's
- probably enough, for the most part. What I want to see is a model like

- 1. I get to pick the 8 workbench pen colors and they stay that way.
- If another application can share one, fine, but they never get
- changed except by me.

- 2. The other colors are up for grabs. Whoever gets there first, gets
- them.

- Thus, if all I have is two displayed pictures, one in 16 and one in 8
- colors, they should have enough free pens even after you subtract the 8
- pens dedicated to workbench stuff.
