  20. First, you might try to find another asynch port, and use AT&C0&W to try
  21. and make the modem come up with carrier enabled.  Then when you go
  22. back to your dumb term, carrier should be on OK.

  24. If you can't do that, or it doesn't work  (like &W doesn't work like
  25. on some of the new cheesier modems on the market today),  then make
  26. or modify your cable so Carrier Detect does not run to the modem.
  27. Many terminals take an open circuit as a HIGH.  If that doesn't work
  28. drive the CD line with DTR from the terminal.  Make sure that the modem
  29. isn't still connected to the CD line if you do that.

  31. On a 25 pin connector  CD is on pin 8 and DTR is on pin 20.
