- First, you might try to find another asynch port, and use AT&C0&W to try
- and make the modem come up with carrier enabled. Then when you go
- back to your dumb term, carrier should be on OK.

- If you can't do that, or it doesn't work (like &W doesn't work like
- on some of the new cheesier modems on the market today), then make
- or modify your cable so Carrier Detect does not run to the modem.
- Many terminals take an open circuit as a HIGH. If that doesn't work
- drive the CD line with DTR from the terminal. Make sure that the modem
- isn't still connected to the CD line if you do that.

- On a 25 pin connector CD is on pin 8 and DTR is on pin 20.
