  11. I've just recently started developing problems with my 9600 SA.
  12.  
  13. It seems that it dials a number, gets carrier, but won't finish handshaking
  14. and connect.  I hang up and dial right back and it gets in.  It does 
  15. this with several modems (Telebits, Supras, several) and it just started
  16. in the last two months or so.  It used to connect fine, with no problems.
  17. This is at 9600...

  19. The modem is roughly a year and half old... and had the latest roms for
  20. when I got it, June of 91).  Are there perhaps new roms out for it?  I would
  21. like to get the v.32bis, but I dont have the extra 250 dollars for the 
  22. upgrade :(.

  26. Also, I recently moved and don't have PPI's tech support and other numbers,
  27. and I lost my modem manual and don't remember some commands.

  29. I would like to be able to force MNP-5/V.42bis (data compression) to off.
  30. I was reading the online help, and think it might have something to do
  31. with S46 (currently 138), but when I changed it to 0 (last night), it 
  32. just didn't connect to anything v.32 period.  Put it back to 138 and it
  33. worked like before.

  35. The modem configuration has not changed (except for last nights playing)
  36. for about 9 to 11 months (if it works, don't muck with it :) ).
