  16.    I dropped my account with them several years ago when, after an impeccable
  17. record of prompt payment, they suddenly shut off my account.  Customer service
  18. said that I had a $300/month limit, period; they absolutely would not raise
  19. that amount (I wasn't on a credit card account, it was strictly cash).  After
  20. many of the network delays you mention, and many other problems with them, I
  21. finally decided that if they didn't want to take my money I had no further
  22. reason to deal with the arrogant sons-of-turkeys.  I reduced my usage to the
  23. absolute minimum; there was a $5/month charge for keeping the account open,
  24. whether you used the $5 worth of time or not.  Then one month I was _one week_
  25. late mailing my ($5!) payment and got an _extremely_ nasty dunning letter; that
  26. was the absolute last straw.
  27.    Despite the fact that they have an enormous amount of good stuff on the
  28. system, support groups for Borland, Microsoft, etc., discussions on just about
  29. any old thing, and the fact that I met a number of very nice people on the
  30. system, Compuserve will never again see a cent of _my_ money.
