  26.     Some drum brake systems have automatic adjusters, and some
  27. have manual ones.  Manual ones need to be adjusted every so often,
  28. and under extreme use, the automatic ones won't be able to keep up
  29. the shoe's material wearing away.  My '73 datsun has manual, but my late 
  30. 60's Bonnevilles have automatic.  The automatic ones can be
  31. adjusted manually as well...best bet is to drive to a parts store and
  32. check out the Haynes/Chiltons manual to see how to do it.

  34.     Typically the adjuster will be a device that spreads the 
  35. shoes apart, and is directly opposite of the wheel cylinder
  36. (the piston gismo that pushes out the brake shoes when you 
  37. press the non-parking brake pedal).  Perhaps someone has more
  38. specific mazda experience and can tell you the exact procedure.
