  15. I am interested in knowing general causes of blue smoke being emitted
  16. from the exhaust of an old car. In particular I have an 1979 VW Polo
  17. (bit smaller than a Golf) which tends to emit blue smoke after being 
  18. in a lot of traffic, or after being driven for a long time at high
  19. revs (eg. motorway driving ~70mph). After an oil change, there isn't
  20. much smoke at all, until about 3/4 weeks later when it starts to reappear.

  22.  o) Is this just due to old age and engine wear?
  23.  o) What can be done to combat it?
  24.  o) Is adjustment of the engine timing a possible/partial solution?
  25.  o) Does it have anything to do with bad oil seals on the pistons?
