- Paul Bodin was right on target -- as he has so often been in
- recent days -- in suggesting that I install Lingua by starting NB
- with the /b command line switch to correct my video display
- problem. The only problem that I had -- and stating it here may
- help someone else -- is that I misunderstood that I should launch
- NB with the /b switch before running the installation. I had
- originally assumed that I could install it first, then exit the
- program, and finally reenter NB with the /b switch. Such was not
- the case. On my firt attempt, immediately after the install
- program installed the file NBLINGUA.DIA, the screen turned to
- garbage, making it impossible for me to continue. I then rebooted
- using the /b switch and reinstalled, affirming each time that I
- wanted to overwrite the files already installed. I knew I was in
- the clear when the screen following the installation of
- NBLINGUA.DIA came up in clean ASCII. I haven't yet figured out
- how to use LINGUA, but that's another chapter of the saga. For
- the moment I need to see if I can install the /b switch
- permanently. In layman's terms, Paul, can you tell us what the /b
- switch is doing?
-
- Thanks a million for the help.
