- The U.S. seems to be organized in such a manner that status is inversely
- related with actual usefulness. So the President has a very high salary,
- and mathematicians of the 'pure' persuasion don't do too badly, and
- neither do sports heroes; what sort of salary is the person who takes out
- your garbage getting? Not bad (if unionized) but nowhere near good, i'll
- bet.
