  15. Yes, _IBMR2 identifies "RISC System/6000" hardware while _AIX
  16. identifies AIX operating system.  As to why _IBMR2 was chosen,
  17. those present-at-the-creation will have to explain.

  19. Unfortunately I do not know of any way to reliably distinguish
  20. between AIX 3.1 and AIX 3.2 however desirable that might be.
