  13. I'm having problems with my 8mm tape drive (at least that's what I've
  14. concluded it is).

  16. Backups and restores with cpio work fine.

  18. Smit can list the products on a new product install tape, but can't
  19. install it (twice - two different tapes with Ada on it - I got "this
  20. tape is not in backup format" or similar message).

  22. I'm trying now to install 3.2.2 (I'm on 3.1.5 now, going to do a complete
  23. overwrite installation).  I follow the directions (power down, set to
  24. secure, power up, insert tape, switch to service, hit yellow button twice)
  25. and the tape drive spins briefly, then it boots from the hard drive in
  26. diagnostic mode.  No installation dialogue.
