- I am considering purchasing a used sun machine. I currently use OS/2 and
- am familiar with several versions of Unix, but have not worked directly with
- Sun hardware.
-
- Although this may be a FAQ, where do I get information about the abilities
- of the different models of suns?
-
- I am considering buying a Sun 3/80. Is that a good machine for someone who
- wants to work with a little X-windows, networking, and learn some system
- administration. Eventually, I would just use the X-server to run client
- apps on a RISC box (non-sun). And I would like to experiment with such
- things as NFS and Telnet from a DOS Machine.
-
- This was one machine I considered purchasing...
-
- Sun 3/80
- Pizza Box Sized Machine
- Motorola 68030 Processor, running at 20 MHz
- 16 MB RAM
- Conner 100 MB Hard Drive - with SunOS 4.1.1, X11R5
- 19" Mono Monitor with mono framebuffer
- Sun-4 Type Keyboard and Mouse
- 2 Serial, 1 Parallel ports on board
-
- How much is it worth? Is it upgradable? Is there a better model that would
- let me do Sun-type computing :-)?
-
- Thanks in advance. I would appreciate your e-mail.
