- Looks like I have a major problem with one of our workstations. Its an
- IRIS indigo Elan running 4.0.1. It went down sometime this evening and
- when I tried to restart it using the reset button, it won't start.
- It's stuck at the System maintenance menu. If I select 1, i.e. "start
- system" it says "Starting the system ..." followed by
- "Can't load dksc(0,1,0)/unix" and puts me back in the System maintenance menu.
- When I select any other option in this menu, it gives me a password prompt
- "Enter password: ". No matter what I enter here I get back the
- System maintenance menu as soon as I give a return. This is really
- frustrating. I don't understand what this password is supposed to be.
- Yes sir, I tried the root password but it doesn't help. The cursor
- does not move at all.
-
- The PROM menus on the other SGI workstations don't ask for passwords.
- It neither starts the system nor does it give me the Command Monitor
- prompt.
-
- I plan to call up the TAC first thing monday morning. If you have some
- suggestions please E-mail them to me.
-
- Thanks
