  30. Actually, IBM has always struck me as being the least interested in
  31. open systems - traditionally, most of IBM's systems were "anti-open" -
  32. you had to buy the hardware, sw, support, etc. all from IBM.  The
  33. FTC and competition has forced them to be open, but for the most 
  34. part they seem to be open only when forced to be.  Many other companies
  35. have been using "open systems" as a major strategy for years, while
  36. IBM is relatively new at the game.  Whether Microsoft is any more
  37. open is open for debate, but IBM certainly isn't.
