- I really am having MUCHOS problems trying to upload to my unix host. I've
- tried the host = server, I've tried kermit -r, and all sorts of permutations,
- and I STILL get transmission errors. I am using XPR-Kermit with the latest
- version of C-Kermit (it is my only option) and the connection is at 1200 baud.
-
- But the one thing that is *really* getting annoying, is that VLT seems to
- insist on sending my PATH to the unix machine.
-
- I use the requestor, but if my file is on the RAM DISK, it appears on glia
- as RAM DISK:filename (and Unix will not allow me to rename or FTP THAT at
- all because of the space). I HAVE gotten error-free transmissions, but I
- can't DO anything with them once they appear on unix thanks to the path
- being sent. :<
-
- So, I try to send it from my HD and it appears on glia as DH0(30MB):filename
- (and unix chokes on THAT because of "misplaced parentheses").
-
- So I try to send from a floppy, which at least has a name unix can deal with,
- but the transmission gives me MORE errors because the floppy is too slow.
-
- HELP!!!!! WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? Surely someone here has used this
- combination of term/unix and can give me their settings for uploading on
- both sides of this picture! (Downloading is NOT a problem, but uploading
- is sheer hell...)
-
- At the moment, I can only send tiny 2K files (up to 10K if I get really LUCKY)
- off my floppy, but I want to send a 77K file to a friend and there is no way
- it can be done from the floppy without timeout errors. (I was able to get it
- uploaded with only ONE error after I don't know how many tries, and was told
- that it was STILL corrupted). It was sent from my HD and I the only way I
- could rename it was by mv *.lha newname.lha because of the (30MB) in the
- pathname.
-
- Is it the PATH that is screwing me up? Most of my errors are in the first
- block or 2, but also occured after 10 to 15K had gone through with no problem.
- *sniff* This is really bugging me!
-
- Thank you for any help you may have...
