- I was trying to compile perl 4.035 and began running into repeated parse
- errors in the include file /usr/include/fcntl.h (This has also happened at
- different places during different compiles -- in at least two dozen header
- files when I tried to compile dbmmalloc)).
-
- The strange thing is, I have compiled a number of other programs which, I
- think, use fcntl.h and the other header files where parse errors were
- reported and had no problems -- gnuplot3.2, Cnews, Tin1.1pl4, ssh-1.3, the
- list goes on.
-
- Why do parse errors occur when compiling some packages but not others? What
- can I do to stop them from occurring. FYI, the uncompress and tar I use is
- from the rootimage 0.97 disk and the unzip was compiled myself -- I don't
- think there are any other ``unpackers'' that I have used.
