- I got a number of pinout match-up approaches for making a 8pin mini-DIN mac
- serial port to 25pin rs-232-c cable, and got the most rudimentary of them
- working with a hayes compatible 1200baud modem. But, I also have a Concord
- Data Systems 224 2400 baud that I'd like to use, my problem being i got it
- cheap, 2nd hand and haven't had a system to test it on with a known-to-work
- configuration. With the simple cable and the more obvious dipswitch settings
- being tried, the SQ (signal quality) light stays on, which i thought (from
- memories of having used a clone of this modem years ago) meant the carrier
- over the phone was strong. this is just when the terminal program is run,
- before the cpu has talked enough with the modem to dial, yet! when i type
- commands... returns to try to get the prompt of dialing mode, the TD (transmit
- data) light flashes, but no promising echoing of that flash in any other lights
- takes place. Anyone have experience with these massive modems and their
- 4 banks of dip switches?
-
- i got the file from ftp at apple.com on the mac pinouts, and the update from
- the author even, which lists some alternative configurations for more dumb
- modems. Anyone know which of these to try? I suck at soldering.
