- Our research team here is trying to buy a coding/decoding card for video
- images. That card should be able to receive PAL signals, compress it and
- display the result on the screen. Also, it should be able to grab compressed
- video data from the computer, decompress it and display it on the screen.
- Our requirement is that the card must be able to perform the above encoding
- and decoding functions at the same time for video conferencing purpose.
- The coding algorithm implemented is not a major concern. However, JPEG
- algorithm is perferred. QCIF sized image with a frame rate of no less than
- 15 frames per second should be sufficient for our application.

- For the time being, we know that the Action Media II card for IBM-compatible
- PCs and Parallax card for SUN SPARC stations can fulfil our requirement.
- We are just wondering whether we have any other options available.
