  14. Our research team here is trying to buy a coding/decoding card for video
  15. images. That card should be able to receive PAL signals, compress it and
  16. display the result on the screen. Also, it should be able to grab compressed
  17. video data from the computer, decompress it and display it on the screen.
  18. Our requirement is that the card must be able to perform the above encoding
  19. and decoding functions at the same time for video conferencing purpose.
  20. The coding algorithm implemented is not a major concern. However, JPEG
  21. algorithm is perferred. QCIF sized image with a frame rate of no less than
  22. 15 frames per second should be sufficient for our application.

  24. For the time being, we know that the Action Media II card for IBM-compatible
  25. PCs and Parallax card for SUN SPARC stations can fulfil our requirement.
  26. We are just wondering whether we have any other options available.
