- My Corolla died yesterday. Just died. When you try to start it
- it makes a very different sound then normal. Like the engine
- has no compression. I don't think I here anything like major
- engine parts hitting together (valves and pistons).

- Car has 98,500 miles, 4A-GE engine (same as MR2 used to have)
- Rear wheel drive.

- Questions: Does the 4A-GE engine have enough valve-piston clearance
- to survive a timing belt failure without major engine damage?

- Does this sound like the timing belt broke?
