  32. I don't think it would if you had a clear copyright notice on the story.
  33. At least it would not appear to for English authors, copyright comes into
  34. being on publication, and showing a copy of the story to my mother counts
  35. as publication.  I think the rules are different in the States, and you
  36. may find yourself with a problem there.

  38. If I have copyright in England, I have copyright in all the Berne
  39. Convention countries.  It then takes a specific act to release the
  40. document into the public domain.  Putting it onto a subscription service
  41. where one is getting a fee for each download, would not amount, in my
  42. opinion to such an act.  The fact that a fee is payable to the author
  43. in respect of the number of downloads, would indicate that the
  44. document is not in the Public Domain.
