- So? Why did you waste so much money buying a PC? Why, for the
- cost of one overpriced 286 clone I can buy a dozen Commodore 64s!
- What's that you say? You need features that the Commodore doesn't
- have? But when people point out to you how many features the Mac
- has, as standard equipment, that the PC doesn't, you just say, "Who
- needs all those features? A computer is just a tool. All that
- matters is that it gets the job done." So, why not a Commodore
- 64? After all, a computer is just a computer. A Commodore 64
- can get the job done, eventually. Why did you waste *all* that
- money.
-

-
- Except that you haven't been "clearing up misconceptions", you've
- been spreading misinformation about how problem-free PCs are.
-
- >As I see it, PC's have a whole array of advantages, most

-
- Yet you are completely unwilling to compare the cost of a
- Macintosh to the cost of a PC *with equivalent features*.
- Why? PC advocates have posted numerous "price comparisons"
- here, but in every case the comparison was between a full-
- featured Mac and a fewer-featured PC, and you get downright
- nasty when people point out the things you've left out. Why
- are you afraid of an *honest* comparison?
-
- >that are often all too easily ignored by Mac users for what
- >are essentially aesthetic, and not practical reasons.
-
- The reasons are not aesthetic, they are *human factors
- engineering* -- a discipline that no one in the PC world
- seems to have heard of. Any advantage in human-factors
- design is constantly denigrated as "mere aesthetics" that
- aren't important to "true power users." PC users brag about
- how much they know about CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, WIN.INI,
- etc. -- in other words, how *hard* their PC is to use. It
- never occurs to you that having a machine that's easy to use
- could be an advantage.
