- I'm still using a 5 year old DOS laptop with an early-type LCD screen, and
- while it has lost a little contrast, it's still basically fine. In general,
- I think LCDs have a reasonable life expectancy, certainly on a par with
- hard disks. It's true, however, that if the LCD fails and you're out of
- warranty, the replacement cost is usually so exhorbitant that you might,
- in fact, have to junk the computer.
