- Is it possible that the CMOS setting on your original 286 was different?
- It may have worked, for example, but possibly with a different head/cylinder
- count and lower capacity. Even at the expense of some capacity, you have to
- match the drive parameters _exactly_. If this is the case, back up the
- drive, then change the BIOS to the correct type, and do a low level format
- to get the full capacity. This would be a convenient time to check your
- interleave and make sure it is optimal.

- Are you using the same controller? Try moving the original controller as
- well, particularly if they are from a different manufacturer. (It sounds
- like everything else is the same, so this doesn't apply).
