- Here's the generalized method I use to move email from a UN*X system
- to HPDeskmanager systems - it may or may not be official, but I can
- say that I've never had mail bounce because of badly-formed addresses.
- (I have had mail bounce because I did not know the correct HPDesk
- address to begin with :-)
-
- If the recipient's HPDesk address is, for example:
-
- John DOE / HP1234/AB
-
- I use the following address when sending mail from a UN*X node:
-
- john_doe%ab@hp1234.desk.hp.com
-
- Note the underscore between first and last names, and the use of
- all lower-case characters. HP's HPDesk<-->email gateway does
- all of the translation stuff for you.
-
- This method works just fine when sending email from the public internet
- into the HP internet. HPDesk users can reply to UN*X email by simply
- hitting their "REPLY" softkey.
-
- As far as I know, all HPDesk addresses within HP are of the form:
-
- Firstname LASTNAME / HPXXXX/YY (where XXXX and YY can be
- numeric and/or uppercase
- alpha)
- which should translate to:
-
- firstname_lastname%yy@hpxxxx.desk.hp.com
-
-
- Hope this helps!
