  10. Would someone please be so kind to post or send me a copy of the FAQ
  11. list for comp.os.mach?

  13. While I am using bandwidth, I am interested to know whether there is
  14. any public domain OS available, based on Mach, which will allow me to
  15. run X Windows and Free Software Foundation software on a 386 machine.
  16. What would be most helpful is if someone could send me the following 
  17. information:
  18.   1. Summary of your hardware platform
  19.      a. processor
  20.      b. BIOS
  21.      c. VGA card
  22.      d. floppy/HD controller
  23.      e. other hardware requirements
  24.   2. Software packages that work
  25.      a. FSF Software (GNU, etc.)
  26.      b. Shells
  27.      c. X Windows/386
  28.   3. User Issues
  29.      a. Can I boot from the hard-disk?
  30.      b. Can I run on a network with TCP/IP?
  31.      c. UUCP?
  32.   4. Performance Issues
  33.      a. How much memory (RAM) should I have?
  34.      b. How much disk space is required for the minumum/maximum
  35.         OS installation?
  36.   5. Some known problems/bugs...

  38. My problem domain is "simple". I want to use the abovementioned packages
  39. to do work on parallel (and distributed) research. If anybody is using 
  40. Mach for such research on networks of PC's, I'd really like to hear from
  41. you.
