- ISSUE: Industrial acceptance of object-oriented technologies. The private
- sector will need to be more aggressive in the next 5-8 years to take the
- risks associated with object oriented development.
-
- SOLUTION: Joint development of multiple use systems with private industry and
- large Federal gov't systems.
-
- This will get more of the private sector on board because risks
- will be diluted for industry concerned about higher up front costs
- associated with a lifecycle approach.
-
- AFFECTS: There will be a consolidation of the multitude of methodologies
- currently awash in the OO field. Consistency with terminology such as
- "classes", "methods", "services", etc. will lead to a rapid proliferation
- of truly reusable software. Life will be good, no matter what Bill and
- Hillary do to our taxes!
