  14. I wish Allen Akin and Michael Jones had taken the time to investigate the
  15. direction PLB is taking before making comments.  Rich Thomson is equally
  16. to blame.

  18. 1. Yes, the PLB was based on a purely PHIGS model and yes, SGI does not
  19.    care for this model. BUT, there is now two sets of numbers, the
  20.    PLB literal and the PLB optimized where literal is the PHIGS model
  21.    and optimized is whatever you want it to be as long as the picture
  22.    is correct.

  24. 2. A good port of PLB takes time (much longer than I or anyone else would
  25.    want).  The chicken and egg syndrome occurs when you as a consumer want
  26.    to use PLB as a required benchmark but its not ready and then the vendors
  27.    see that no one is asking for PLB numbers so they don't spend money to
  28.    work on the port.

  30. 3. In a few days (weeks), the reference port, PLB documentation and test
  31.    data will be available for anonymous ftp.  Watch this space and
  32.    comp.benchmarks for more information.
