  21. BFT will be a CCITT standard, as soon as it is accepted. It is 
  22. technically stable and there is no problem moving ahead with 
  23. implementation. The data is formatted in a manner similar to FTAM 
  24. (ASN.1 encoding) and then carried by the T.30 error correction mode 
  25. (HDLC frames).  There is very little of BFT that is implemented in 
  26. the modem -- just the ability to negotiate the single bit that 
  27. indicates that BFT is in use.  All of the file formatting exists 
  28. within the data portion of the message, which is handled by the 
  29. computer software.
