- BFT will be a CCITT standard, as soon as it is accepted. It is
- technically stable and there is no problem moving ahead with
- implementation. The data is formatted in a manner similar to FTAM
- (ASN.1 encoding) and then carried by the T.30 error correction mode
- (HDLC frames). There is very little of BFT that is implemented in
- the modem -- just the ability to negotiate the single bit that
- indicates that BFT is in use. All of the file formatting exists
- within the data portion of the message, which is handled by the
- computer software.
