- As far as I can tell Orbis has a few bugs left so you need to take
- precautions, but you CAN use it if you are careful.
-
- First, leave the files you want to use in the directory they already
- occupy. Orbis doesn't change the files it indexes, it creates new
- files to hold the index information. Leave your present textbase
- index files where they are, too, so you can use them. Start Orbis
- from the help line and follow the prompts to create a NEW textbase,
- and use this when you are in NB4 while you continue to use the old
- textbase when in NB3. You can continue to do this as long as you
- don't change the note files themselves--when it gets to that point it
- will be trickier to keep *both* text bases up to date. If you are
- reasonably careful even that should be possible, though.
-
- From what I have seen so far, even the preliminary versions of Orbis
- are sufficiently better than the old textbase that I don't anticipate
- using the latter at all from now on.
