  28. As far as I can tell Orbis has a few bugs left so you need to take
  29. precautions, but you CAN use it if you are careful.

  31. First, leave the files you want to use in the directory they already
  32. occupy.  Orbis doesn't change the files it indexes, it creates new
  33. files to hold the index information.  Leave your present textbase
  34. index files where they are, too, so you can use them.  Start Orbis
  35. from the help line and follow the prompts to create a NEW textbase,
  36. and use this when you are in NB4 while you continue to use the old
  37. textbase when in NB3.  You can continue to do this as long as you
  38. don't change the note files themselves--when it gets to that point it
  39. will be trickier to keep *both* text bases up to date.  If you are
  40. reasonably careful even that should be possible, though.

  42. From what I have seen so far, even the preliminary versions of Orbis
  43. are sufficiently better than the old textbase that I don't anticipate
  44. using the latter at all from now on.
