- So far as creating communities of NB users, NBI has
- been its own worst enemy. There used to be five NB
- users on my campus, which has a 230 full-time faculty,
- most of whom use either WordPerfect of or Microsoft Word
- for MacIntosh. Now, the cheese stands alone--I am the
- only NB user left. The seductiveness of Windows accounts
- for some of this attrition, but unreliable release dates,
- particularly for Lingua, account for most of it.
-
- This loss of customers is the main reason why I do not think
- that NBI can survive this upgrade fiasco. Who is buying the
- program now? Who will buy it tomorrow?
