- I have heard the rumors also - but I can quote from basic experience that
- I don't believe AM is going to work any less well than FM. Supposedly AM
- is more susceptible to outside frequency interference, such as pager repeaters
- or whatnot.
-
- I have two of the Futaba AM systems - one 4NBL with micro rx & servos, and
- one 4NBL-E with combination rx & ESC (speed control for electrics) as well
- as micro servos there too. I also have JR X-347 PCM, Futaba 7-UAP PCM,
- Futaba 7-FGK FM and Airtronics FM - and I fly in a quite radio-congested
- area - the SF Bay Area. I have NEVER had any trouble with the AM radios,
- after many hours of using them. I haven't had trouble with the others, either.
-
- If AM was a problem, you can bet the bottom dollar that Futaba would not
- sell them in the quantities they do - no one wants a bad reputation, much
- less a huge corporation with such a following of customers that Futaba is/has.
-
- Finally, my preferences for radio systems is such that I will ALWAYS look to
- Futaba first. (My JR-X347, which I LOVE, was from a trade, and the Airtronics
- was from buying back a botched gift project). So, I don't think you have
- a thing to worry about buying the Futaba AM systems - go for it.
