- I've been slow to respond to this question because I've been giving it a
- great deal of thought. My immediate response was a flip, "For the money
- and fame, of course!" But I decided that wasn't any more funny than it
- was true. :-]
-
- I've decided that my *personal* reason for writing is a quest for
- knowledge and understanding. (My, doesn't that sound lofty?) But
- seriously, I feel my ability to articulate feelings, incidents,
- thoughts, etc., enables me to understand them; or at least leads me in
- that direction.
-
- This train of thought eventually led me to pose the question, "Is
- rational thought possible without language?" I've done some research
- into it, but decided it was more appropriate to post it in
- alt.usage.english. It's an intriguing, if unresolved, question for me.
