  11. I decided I'd had enough of living with Ultrix's unsatisfactory man, and
  12. as the question of replacements is certainly a FAQ for this group, checked
  13. Win Treece's FAQ-list for current recommendations.  I was surprised to 
  14. find no mention of it in the most recent issue I could find (in my archive
  15. -- the current issue appears to have expired).

  17. I will happily coordinate a summary for submission to Win as an addition
  18. to the list.  My archive has revealed (and I will be evaluating) the 
  19. following possibilities:
  20.    1. convex.com:/pub/perl/scripts/man.shar.Z 
  21.          A perl script replacement from Tom Christiansen
  22.    2. decuac.dec.com:/pub/sources/bsd-man.tar.Z
  23.          Marcus Ranum's port of bsd tar, minus bugs
  24.    3. ugle.unit.no:/pub/unix/utils/woman.shar 
  25.          C code replacement with a sharp line in cute names!
