- We have a DECStation 3100S with 24M and a bad SIMM (which yields panics in
- Kernal mode, crashing the machine).
-
- Shuffling the SIMMs moves the error by 4M (i.e. 1 goes to 2, 2 goes to 3...
- 12 goes to 1).
-
- What we need to know is what SIMM is bad, based on the memory address.
- The memory address is static, and doesn't change inside the SIMM, but does
- move according to where the SIMM is located.
-
- Our problematic address is 12D1984 hex.
-
- Could someone tell me which SIMM this is?
-
- Also, is it possible to remove one SIMM only or do I have to remove a group
- to get the machine to function properly (i.e., can I get it working reliably
- albeit slowly for the moment till the new SIMM arrives)?
-
- Thanks for any help you can offer.
