- The instructions are quite clear. It is called 'installing software'
- (well, > 95% of it is). The Installation Guide is quite clear on all
- of that. That process will make filesystems if required, so you
- don't need to worry about that much.

- The only other piece of info that you need is that fx will create
- the partition layout. In fact, by default fx will do almost all
- of the initialization you need when it notices that the disk doesn't
- yet have a volume header on it. The only other thing you would have
- to do is to change the partition tables if you don't like the default
- (the top level repartition menu makes this easy).

- The Installation Guide even contains instructions on how to boot
- the standalone fx from the various types of installation media,
- and how to determine which fx to boot (there are several different
- versions, depending on your hardware type).
