  19. PDA is an acronym coined by Apple, it stands for "Personal Digital
  20. Assistant."  According to Steve Gibson (in his InfoWorld column "Tech
  21. Talk") it should be pronounced "Poda."

  23. The PDA is supposed to be in the marketing hype of the Serius
  24. Cybernetic Corporation the _The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy_:
  25. "Your plastic pal, who's fun to be with!" :-)

  27. PDAs are not supposed to be general purpose computers, they are
  28. supposed to be portable information management tools. A smart daytimer
  29. with a wireless modem (although the products won't have much
  30. communications).  The idea is a little box that you write "Lunch with
  31. Trillian on Tuesday." and it looks up Trillian in your address book to
  32. find her full name, knows that your lunch hour is from 12 to 1 and
  33. enters "Lunch with Tricia McMillen" in that time on next tuesday in
  34. your daytimer.

  37. on Steroids." For the long term this means a combination of Apple's
  38. "Knowledge Navigator" and Microsoft's "Information at your
  39. Fingertips."
